Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
1. Introduction
Holon Technology ("Holon," "we," "us") provides Canvas LTI applications and related services to educational institutions and individual instructors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our products you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: email address, password (stored as a hash), and any name or contact details you choose to share when you register.
- Billing information: when you purchase a license, payment is processed by Stripe. Holon does not store full credit card numbers; we retain only Stripe customer and transaction identifiers and the email address associated with the purchase.
- Support communications: messages you send to our support address.
Information from Canvas
- When our tools launch inside Canvas via LTI, Canvas sends us identifying information about the user and the course context (Canvas user ID, role, course ID, institution ID, name, email if available).
- If you provide a Canvas API token, we use it solely to perform the actions you authorize (such as listing or publishing courses) and we do not share it with third parties.
Information collected automatically
- Operational logs: server logs containing IP address, request timestamp, and basic request metadata, retained for security and debugging purposes.
- Cookies: we use a session cookie scoped to
.holontechnology.comto keep you signed in across our customer portal and product pages. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, and improve our products.
- To process payments, deliver licenses, and send transactional email (account confirmations, license keys, password resets).
- To respond to support requests.
- To monitor for abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the service providers required to operate Holon:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Hosting providers — DigitalOcean and Google Cloud, which host our servers.
- Anthropic — when you use AI-assisted features, the relevant prompt content is sent to Anthropic for processing under their data terms.
We may disclose information if compelled by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Holon, our customers, or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain account and license data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal, accounting, and audit requirements. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
6. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information: HTTPS for all traffic, hashed passwords, secure session cookies, and access controls on our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond promptly to any incidents.
7. Children's Privacy
Holon is designed for use by educational institutions, instructors, and adult learners. Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
